Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam

Early Life

His full name was Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam. Kalam was born into a Tamil family at Dhanushkodi in Rameswaram, India on October 15, 1931. His father name was Jainulabdeen and he was not much education. But Kalam believes that he obtain self-discipline and honesty from his father, while kindness and faith in goodness from his mother. He started his schooling in Rameswaram at “samiyar” school. He obtained a BSc in Physics from St. Joseph’s college, Tamil Nadu in 1954. He completed his Aeronautical Engineering in Madras Institute of Technology, Chennai in 1958. He began working for the Indian Space Research Organization in 1962 as a scientist. Soon Kalam get a passport to work on the first Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV-3) programme of India.
